Four things it does that you can’t.

Two sensors that see what you can’t, a bar anyone can read, and an app only when you want it.

Light CO2 soaks some up Detector Less light out = more CO2

Infrared for CO2

Light shines through a tiny chamber. CO2 soaks some of it up. The less light that gets through, the more CO2 is in your room. Infrared is the type of sensor made to measure CO2 itself.

Fan pulls air in Laser Counts flashes

Laser for fine dust

A small fan pulls in room air. A laser shines across it, and every tiny bit of smoke or dust flashes as it passes. The sensor counts the flashes. So you see when cooking or candles fill the room.

One bar. No charts.

A short green bar means fresh air. When it climbs into orange or red, open a window and watch it drop.

Groggy at 7am? Foggy by 3pm?
It might not be you. It might be your room.

Shut the door for a night of sleep or a workday, and the air you breathe out builds up hour after hour. You can’t see it. You can’t smell it. You only feel it.

About 4×

More CO2 in a bedroom with the window shut than with it open, in one sleep study. People fell asleep faster with it open.

50%

Lower scores on thinking tests for office workers in stale air than in fresh air, in one study.

2 to 5×

Some air pollution is 2 to 5 times worse inside than outside, says the U.S. EPA. And we spend about 90% of our time inside.

Dark bedroom at night with the door closed

Trapped with every breath.

Every breath out adds CO2. Shut the door for the night and it has nowhere to go. In one sleep study, a closed bedroom passed 2,500 ppm.

Fine dust glowing in a beam of sunlight

Dust that slips past your nose.

Cooking, candles and heating fill the room with fine dust. Your nose stops big dust. Most fine dust slips past it, deep into your lungs.

Mist from a spray bottle drifting into the air

Fumes you stop noticing.

Sprays, paint, new mattresses and furniture give off fumes. After a few minutes you stop smelling them. They can still be there.

You can’t fix what you can’t see. CalmFront Air puts it on one bright screen.

The story behind CalmFront

Built to end the window argument.

For two years I woke up tired. Eight hours of sleep felt like four. Dry throat, dull headache, two coffees before I felt normal.

I changed my mattress. I bought blackout curtains. I took magnesium before bed. Nothing really helped.

Then I read about CO2 building up overnight in modern homes. New homes are sealed tight to save heat. Great for the heating bill. Bad for fresh air.

So I looked for an air monitor. Some low-priced ones didn’t say what sensor was inside. Others cost $300 or more and had no screen, so I had to open an app just to see my own air. And every time I opened the window in winter, we argued about letting the heat out.

So I started CalmFront. I picked a monitor with an infrared CO2 sensor and a laser dust sensor, with a big screen anyone can read from across the room. No phone needed. No subscription. When the bar climbs, everyone can see it’s time to open the window.

“You should be able to look across the room and know if the air you breathe is fresh.”

David, founder of CalmFront

Plug in. Glance. Air out.

Fresh air for your workday. Fresh air for your night.

  1. 1

    Plug in.

Put it on a desk, nightstand or wall and plug it in. The sensors start within minutes. No battery to charge.

  2. 2

    Glance.

Six readings on one bright screen. The bar under CO2 gives the answer: short and green is fresh, long and orange is stale.

  3. 3

    Air out.

Crack a window, open the door or turn on the range hood. Watch the number and the bar fall.

The two-night test

Find out in two nights. Or send it back.

Night one: sleep as you always do. Night two: crack the window an inch or two. Compare the two lines in the morning. Now you know if your bedroom is part of the problem, and which fix works.

The 60-day fresh air promise

Run the test in your own bedroom. If your air turns out fine, or you just don’t want it, send it back within 60 days of delivery for a full refund of the price you paid. Return postage is yours unless it’s faulty. Full terms

Dark and quiet at night. Loud when you want it.

Night

Turn the screen light off and mute the buzzer in the app. The room stays dark and quiet. It keeps measuring, and you check the night in the morning.

Day

Set your own alert levels. If smoke from the kitchen climbs while you’re in another room, the buzzer tells you.

  • Tracks fine dust down to PM1.0
  • A small fan for the dust sensor. A faint hum up close
  • °F or °C: press the power button twice, or switch it in the app

We tell you what’s inside. Before you buy.

An infrared sensor for CO2. A laser sensor for fine dust. A fumes sensor. A Wi-Fi module. And power from the wall, so it never sleeps to save a battery.

Sensor types and ranges are from the maker’s spec sheet. It’s a home monitor for spotting changes in your air, not a lab tool.

Everything people ask before they buy.

Does it clean the air?

No. It’s a monitor. It doesn’t take dust, smoke or gases out of the air. It tells you when your air needs attention, so you can act: open a window, turn on the range hood, or run a fan or purifier.

I have an air purifier. Do I still need this?

A purifier cleans the air that’s already in the room. It can’t bring fresh air in. Filters catch dust. They don’t take out the CO2 from breathing. Only fresh air does that. CalmFront Air shows both numbers: the dust your purifier should bring down, and the CO2 that only fresh air brings down.

Do I need Wi-Fi or the app?

No. The screen works on its own the moment you plug it in. Wi-Fi and the free app add remote numbers, history, alert levels and the backlight switch.

Is there a subscription?

No. The app is free. No monthly fees.

Is the screen too bright for a bedroom?

The app has a backlight switch. Turn the screen light off at night. It keeps measuring, and you check the numbers in the app.

Does it beep or make noise?

It has a buzzer for alerts. You set your own alert levels, and you can mute it. The dust sensor pulls air through with a small fan. In a silent room you may hear a faint hum up close.

Does it run on batteries?

No. It plugs in, so it measures around the clock and never needs charging.

How accurate is it?

It’s a home monitor for spotting changes in your air, not a lab tool. The CO2 sensor is infrared, the type made for measuring CO2. Read the dust and fumes numbers as trends. For the best readings, put it at breathing height, away from windows, vents, steam and direct sun. The CO2 sensor resets itself about once a day, so let fresh air into the room once a day.

More questions
Is this a carbon monoxide or smoke alarm?

No. CalmFront Air is not a certified CO or smoke alarm. Keep your certified alarms installed.

What are the CO and Pollen numbers on the screen?

Extra numbers, for a rough idea only. The CO number is not a certified alarm. Pollen is a rough guess from the dust sensor. It’s not a pollen count, and it can’t tell pollen apart from dust.

Why does the dust number jump when I cook or shower?

Cooking really does add fine dust, so a jump while you cook is normal. Steam from a shower, a kettle or a humidifier can push the number up too, because very wet air makes light-based dust sensors read high. Keep it away from steam.

How fast is shipping?

Free tracked shipping to US addresses from our US warehouse, by tracked shipping. Orders usually leave within 1 to 2 business days and arrive in 3 to 7 business days.

What if I don’t like it?

Return it within 60 days of delivery to our US returns address for a full refund of the price you paid. Faulty units: return postage is on us.

What CO2 level is good?

Outside air is about 420 ppm (parts per million). Under 800 inside is fresh. Over 1,000, it’s time to let some air in.

Can I buy more than one?

Yes. Pick up to 10. Every monitor costs the same. Need more than 10? Email support@habitudegoods.com for a bulk quote.

Does it work with Alexa or Google Home?

It works with the free Smart Life app. We don’t promise it works with voice assistants, so buy it for the screen and the app.

Why does the app call it PT02-plus?

That’s our manufacturing partner’s model name for the hardware inside CalmFront Air. You can rename it in the app, for example to “Bedroom”.
